Last year, HMD Global, Nokia’s parent company unveiled the budget Nokia 5.1 and 5.1 Plus in the month of May and July respectively. The Nokia 5.1 Plus is a glass sandwich device whereas the Nokia 5.1 is a 6000 series aluminum unibody smartphone.
Without further ado, let’s get straight on to the specs of the devices starting with the Nokia 5.1 Plus followed by the Nokia 5.1.
Nokia 5.1 Plus specifications
The Nokia 5.1 Plus is powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 Octa-core SoC coupled to a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU aided by 4GB of RAM the 64GB internal storage variant and 3GB of RAM on the 32GB storage variant. The device is equipped with a dedicated MicroSD card slot (up to 400GB) available in the device for expanded storage. Providing visuals is a 5.86in 720 x 1520 pixels HD+ notched IPS LCD display with a tall aspect ratio of 19:9 and a disappointingly low pixel density of 287 PPI. The fingerprint sensor is located at the rear of the smartphone.
Camera system
Photography is handled by a dual camera setup at the rear featuring a 13MP (f/2.0 lens) + 5MP (depth) (f/2.2) sensors combination assisted by an LED flash and an 8MP (f/2.0) shooter upfront. The cameras both at the front and rear can record videos up to 1080p at 30fps.
Power, connectivity and Android version
A 3060 mAh battery is onboard to provide more than enough juice to the Nokia 5.1 Plus. Speaking of which, the device features standard battery charging (10W). However, to make up for this, at least the 5.1 comes equipped with a USB-C port for charging and data transfers.
Coming to the connectivity side of the smartphone, it has you all covered with WI-FI 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2 LE with A2DP and EDR, GPS and more. Oh, and by the way, the device features the good old headphone jack we all love. The Nokia 5.1 Plus is an AndroidOne certified device meaning at launch, it shipped with stock and pure Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. With that said, Android 9.0 Pie update is now available for the device.
Nokia 5.1 specifications
The Nokia 5.1 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P18 Octa-core SoC coupled to a Mali-T860 MP2 GPU aided by 3 (32 GB variant) or 2GB of RAM (16GB variant). A dedicated MicroSD card slot (up to 256 GB) is available in the device for expanded storage. A 5.5 in 1080 x 2160 pixels Full HD+ IPS LCD display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a fairly sharp pixel density of 439 PPI. The fingerprint sensor is located at the rear of the smartphone.

Photography is handled by a single camera setup at the rear featuring a 16MP (f/2.0 lens) assisted by dual LED flash and an 8MP (f/2.2) shooter upfront for selfieholics. The cameras both at the front and rear can record videos up to 1080p.
Battery power, connectivity and Android OS version
A 2970 mAh battery is onboard to provide decent enough juice to keep the 5.1 ticking on. Coming to the connectivity side of the Nokia 5.1, it has you all covered but with WI-FI 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE with A2DP and EDR, GPS and more. The device features the good old headphone jack. The Nokia 5.1 ran on the stock, pure and clean Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box at launch. However, The device is upgradeable to Android 9.0 Pie.
